DEADLY JUSTICE Prologue The full moon shined revealing the man’s face. He stepped back until darkness sheltered him. Lights in the bar dimmed. He saw her shadow pass the window obscured by the Miller Lite sign. He sneered, he was about to extinguish her light. He chose this bar because of the sign. True there were other bars with the Miller Lite signs in their window. However, this was the only one in Washington D.C. where the barmaid was named Miller; at least as far as he knew. Tonight Shannon Miller would be his. For the next two hours, he would toy with her. Give her a chance to repent. An hour before sunrise her time would run out. How long would it be before her family, her friends reported her missing? As with the others, he†¦show more content†¦Her eyes darted in every direction still she didn’t see him. He was invisible. She attempted to insert the key in the door. Her hands shook. The eleven o’clock news reported they had found another one. If he struck with his pattern, the D C Killer would strike again tonight. By morning, some woman would be dead. Fumbling she dropped the key ring. She stooped to pick it up. Her head swiveling in all directions. Looking yet not seeing him. Her ears alert to every sound.She lowered her eyes, trying again successful this time. She turned the key there was an audible click. She sighed; unaware she had been holding her breath. She opened the door the dome light flashed on. He was on her in an instant. Their bodies shaming against the door. The light winked out. He held her in an iron grip. One hand over her mouth. The .38 poking her in the left breast. â€Å"Move and I’ll kill you.† He growled. She moaned tears clouding her vision. They ran down her cheeks, dripping off her chin. He felt her body tremble. â€Å"Please don’t hurt me.† She whispered her though? dry her words cracking. He grinned. His face twisted into a deadly smile. â€Å"Tonight I’m going to save you.† For the next two hours, she suffered tortures no woman should endure. Her body cried out in protest. Her voice silent, stopped by the duct tape on her mouth. Finally his work was done. She had paid her sins with her blood. He removed the duct tape from her mouth, wrists and ankles.
